Positive Outlook

It is a very great thing to be able to think as you like, but, after all, an important question remains: what you think.
- Matthew Arnold

The power of the mind
We each have a simple power inside us that we can choose to use: the power of the mind! This means speaking positive words and thinking positive thoughts. Cultivating a positive attitude can bring good results in all areas of life. We can begin at any time to shift our thinking and respond positively to life. Why not now?

How do we live our daily lives?
Are the things we say and do positive and useful? Is the world a better place because we are in it?

Sir Tom Farmer

One woman planted flowers wherever she lived because she wanted to make her little spot on the Earth more beautiful. Every passer-by enjoyed the beauty of her gardens! How can we too can live in such a way that every day is all-important and makes a difference?

Ideals in action
Can setting our ideals in accordance with spiritual principles provide a more positive outlook? If we hold limited ideals, we actually restrict ourselves. In Your Life . . . Understanding the Universal Laws, Bruce McArthur lists five important considerations for establishing noble ideals.
They are:
1   Your ideals are the standards by which you make your choices. They are like a road map that you use to guide you to your destination.
2   Your ideals set the attitudes by which you live.
3   Your ideals determine the path and the direction in which you are moving.
4   Your ideals provide the balancing link between body, mind, and soul. Through your ideals, you coordinate the spirit within, the mind, and the body.

The Bhagavad Gita

Zoom in

The secret of success in most areas of life is really no secret at all. If we observe carefully how things happen in our lives, it becomes obvious that where we focus our attention and the attitudes we express are likely to determine the extent and quality of our achievement.

A bird does not sing because it has an answer; it sings because it has a song. - Chinese proverb

Mark Twain

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
- Herm Albright, quoted by Kirsty Morrison, Kilsyth Academy
