If you don't make mistakes you won't make anything. - Joseph Conrad

Fear of failure
Have you ever missed out on an opportunity because you were afraid of making a mistake? How have you been concerned about appearing "foolish" before your family or friends? This has happened to most of us at some time or other.

The sooner we learn to deal with such fears, the more fruitful our lives can become. "Those who seldom make mistakes, seldom make discoveries." Although making a mistake can be painful, the experience can also provide an excellent resource for growth and learning.
The difference between history's boldest accomplishments, and its most staggering failures is often, simply, the will to keep trying.

We often learn more from making a mistake than from teaching. "Trial and error" are great teachers that allow us to measure our misguided actions. Trial and error teach us what works and what doesn't.
We can look for the best solution and then move on. Think confidently. Worry over making a mistake accomplishes nothing.

Life can be as interesting and stimulating as the discoveries we make. If we focus on not making mistakes we can miss out. It is easy to go wrong in unknown territory. But if we are afraid of making mistakes, we may be making the biggest mistake of all! This does not mean that we cast aside wisdom, discernment, and good judgement. When we are committed to growth, we can use the tools of research, listen to others whom we respect, and ask for guidance.

Education is when you read the fine print; experience is what you get when you don't. - Peter Seeger (b1919)
