Saint Anne

Anne was the mother of Mary our Lady. This means that Anne was the grandmother of Jesus. Anne's name means, "full of grace". She was married to a holy man called Joachim and they both loved God very much. Joachim and Anne desperately wanted a child and kept praying to God so that he would help them.

Eventually when they thought it maybe too late God answered their prayer and gave them both a special baby who they called Mary. The name Mary means incense that rises to God.

As a grandmother Anne would have been very proud of Jesus and he would often visit her when he was a young child. Anne was a very holy woman with a very strong faith and great hope. She kept praying even when other people may have given up.

Some of the virtues that Anne displayed throughout her life were Faith, Hope and Love (Charity).
