Saint Joan of Arc

joan

Joan of Arc lived in France and was a shepherdess. At that time her country was being attacked by the British army who wanted to take over her country. Joan prayed for the freedom of her country and for God to protect the French soldiers.

Joan said that she heard God's voice telling her to wear armour and lead the fearful French soldiers into battle. At first Joan did not believe that she was hearing God's voice but eventually she did. She led the French soldiers to victory and then she was asked to crown King Charles VII in France in his palace

Joan asked the king if she could return to her original job of being a shepherdess and be able to return to her family. The king refused her wishes so she had to stay in the king's palace. Some of the king's soldiers became very jealous and captured Joan and gave her to her enemies. When her enemies were given Joan they burned her to death.

Some of the virtues that Joan of arc displayed throughout her life were Prudence, Justice, Courage (Fortitude) and Faith.
