Saint John

John was one of Jesus' Apostles who lived in the Holy Land. As many of the Apostles before meeting Jesus he was a fisherman. He saw many of the wonderful things that Jesus did throughout his life and listening very carefully to Jesus' preaching. He also sat next to Jesus on the evening of the Last Supper.
When the other Apostles ran away from Calvary John stayed behind and protected Mary, Jesus' mother. John became a great bishop and it is believed that he wrote the Fourth Gospel and many letters. He also took care of Mary after Jesus ascended into Heaven.
The Romans tried to kill John by boiling him in oil. Jesus protected him and he was not even hurt.
Amongst the virtues that St John had were Courage (Fortitude), Faith, Hope and Love (Charity).
