John Paul II became the 264th Pope and at 58 years of age, he was the youngest Pope elected since Pope Pius IX in 1846. He was born on 18 May 1920 in Poland and was the youngest of three children.

During his reign, the Pope travelled all over the world, visiting over 100 countries spreading the word of God. This was more than any other Pope before him. He remains one of the most-travelled world leaders in history. He was fluent in numerous languages: his native Polish and also Italian, French, German, English, Spanish, Croatian, Portuguese, Russian, and Latin. As well spreading the word of God, Pope John Paul II made many holy people saints (this is known as being canonized).

On 31 March 2005 Pope John Paul II died at the Vatican.

Pope John Paul II had many virtues some being, Prudence, Faith, Hope and Love (Charity).
