Michelangelo

Some of the qualities of Michelangelo were that he had confidence and was a creative genius.

Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (March 6, 1475 - February 18, 1564), commonly known as Michelangelo, was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet and engineer.

Though a giant in his own time, his works often influenced other artists even before they were completed, his stature in the eyes of the art world has only grown as time has given testimony to the scope, depth, power, and beauty of his talent. So great was his talent in so many areas art historians never know for sure whether to think of him first as a painter, a sculptor, or an architect. People say he would like to be to be remembered as a sculptor, yet others say he was best at painting.

Michelangelo made many sculptures and paintings. He is the best-documented artist of the 16th century. Two of his best-known works, the Piet and the David, were sculpted before he turned thirty. Despite his low opinion of painting, Michelangelo also created two of the most influential works in fresco in the history of Western art: the scenes from Genesis on the ceiling and The Last Judgment on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. Later in life he designed the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in the same city and revolutionised classical architecture with his use of the giant order of pilasters.
