Oprah Winfrey

Some of the qualities of Oprah Winfrey are that she is enthusiastic, confident and keeps trying.

Oprah was born on 29th January 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi.
Oprah Winfrey began her broadcasting career at WVOL radio in Nashville while still in high school.
At the age of 19, she became the youngest person and the first African-American woman to anchor the news at Nashville's WTVF-TV
She then moved to the Six O'clock news and a co-host of a local TV show.

She now has her own show, The Oprah Winfrey Show which is seen by an estimated 46 million viewers a week in the United States and is broadcast internationally in 134 countries. In April 2000 she became a magazine producer of a monthly magazine- O, The Oprah Magazine, which is one of the leading women's lifestyle magazines with 2.3 million readers each month.

She owns her own film company called Harpo Films.

Oprah also was an actress appearing in her first film in 1985 when she received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations.

She also has her own foundation - The Oprah Winfrey Foundation which gives grants to organisations that support the education of women, children and families around the United States and around the world.

Oprah has also developed the Oprah Winfrey Scholars Programme, which gives money to children to pay for their education.
